Bioidentical hormone therapy
What is it (BHRT)?
Bioidentical hormone therapy is a treatment that replaces naturally occurring hormones your body makes and slowly stops making as you age. Bioidentical means that the hormone in your pellet possesses the same molecular structure as the hormone found in the human body! Why would I choose pelleting over other methods?
Pelleting has the least adverse reactions (stroke, heart attack, liver damage, etc) out of all the hormone delivery systems available today. There are unlimited dosing options, steady levels of hormones are seen in the blood, absorption is predictable, and it is extremely convenient for patients. Pellets also avoid the unnecessary risk of clots. How long a pellet lasts is patient-dependent, but most women fall within the 3-4 month range depending on their stress and physical activity level. Men typically fall within every 5-6 months. This allows patients to avoid the hills and valleys of weekly injections, the hassle and mess of creams, and the side effects of oral delivery systems.
How does it work?
A pellet is placed under the skin in the subcutaneous (fatty) tissue on the upper buttock area. You cannot see or feel the pellet under the skin, the procedure itself is painless and is done in less than 5-10 minutes! And you don’t have to remember to take hormones until next time months later. No more daily reminders to use cream or injections. The patient doses are individualized based on labs reflecting hormone levels along with height, weight and BMI. Hormone dosages are uniquely calculated for each and every patient that is pelleted. Benefits of hormone therapy?
Consistent Hormone Levels:
The gradual release of hormones from the pellets helps maintain more stable hormone levels.
Convenience:
Pellets can last for several months, reducing the need for daily pills, creams, or injections, making the treatment more convenient.
Customized Dosing:
Hormone dosages can be designed to meet individual needs based on blood tests and regular monitoring, ensuring optimal hormone levels.
Improved Symptoms:
Many individuals experience relief from menopausal symptoms and low Testosterone: like hot flashes, night sweats, improved libido, improved stamina, mood and energy.
Fewer Side Effects:
Pellet therapy is often considered to have less side effects than other HRT methods, such as oral or injectable hormones, due to the consistent and controlled release of hormones.
Improved Bone Health:
The slow release of hormones over time can help improve bone density, which is particularly important for women after menopause.
Potential for Weight Loss:
Some studies suggest that hormone replacement therapy can lead to a reduction in fat and an increase in lean body mass.
Improved Physical Performance:
Individuals may experience increased strength and physical performance.
Improved Cardiovascular Health:
Some research suggests that bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can improve heart health.
Improved Mental Health:
Many people report improvements in mood, memory, and energy levels.
